THE YAP MACHINE
The plain English version

Privacy policy

What The Yap Machine website collects, and what stays on your computer.

What the website may collect

  • Your email when you buy, request a download, or ask for an install call.
  • Your name, computer type and the note you choose to send in a call request.
  • Purchase and refund status from our payment provider.
  • For invited beta participants, the billing agreement you accept, agreement time and technical consent record, Stripe customer/payment tokens, feedback you submit, and your separate publication-permission choice. We never store your card number or security code.
  • Basic website analytics such as page views, button clicks, referral source and general device information.

What stays on your computer

Your ordinary editing videos, transcripts, scripts, profile and file names stay on your computer. The editing, captions, speech recognition and cut-outs run there. We do not receive that raw editing footage through this website.

The only exception is content you deliberately submit through an invited beta testimonial form. Written feedback, external video links and any video you choose to upload are stored so the team can review them. Direct uploads use private cloud storage, not a public folder.

Optional services you choose, such as OpenAI for Word Looks or Google Drive for your own folders, receive only what you send to those services. Their own privacy policies apply.

How information is used

  • To deliver the product and provide installation help.
  • To answer support and install-call requests.
  • To administer the invited beta, send transactional deadline reminders, and apply the conditional charge you explicitly authorized.
  • To publish a beta testimonial only when you separately give publication permission, with discounted-beta disclosure.
  • To prevent fraud and keep the website working.
  • To understand which pages and features are useful.
  • To send product updates or the optional $37 cross-sell when you have asked for marketing email. Every marketing email has an unsubscribe link.

We do not sell your personal information. Payment details are handled by the payment provider. We do not ask for your Claude password.

Your choices

You can unsubscribe from marketing email at any time. Beta deadline and payment notices are transactional, not marketing. You can also ask for access, correction or deletion of your website, beta-submission or call-request information. Transactional records that we must keep for payment, fraud or legal reasons may be retained as required.
